Bio

Erica L. Taylor is a documentary producer and advocate dedicated to justice and

opportunities for the underrepresented. A native of St. Louis, MO, her work in

film, television and radio has allowed her to connect and tell the stories of

legends in entertainment. A graduate of Spelman College, Erica is an impact

documentary filmmaker with a spiritual focus on women’s issues and

socioeconomic disparities. Drawn to visual storytelling, she produced

multiple episodes of the NAACP award-winning network television docuseries

Unsung and Unsung Hollywood for the TV One network. She is also credited

with starting several podcasts, including Vegan Sexy Cool hosted by New York

Journalist Jacque Reid. In 2019, Erica produced two films under The Invisible

series, including The Invisible Vegan and The Invisible Mermaid, projects that

led to her personal documentary, Red Alert: The Fight Against Fibroids, aimed

at giving visibility to the vast number of black women suffering from uterine

fibroid tumors. Having survived reproductive health trauma, Erica is now an

advocate for women’s health under her own Red Alert Project brand and

served as the National Ambassador for the Fibroid Fighters Foundation. In 2022,

the Red Alert Project received support from Myovant Sciences and was named

an official community partner under their Uterine Health Guide. In addition, Erica

was selected to serve as a member of the Uterine Health Advisory Board- a joint

venture of Myovant Sciences and Pfizer, Inc. The research, impact and

experience from her production work has led to countless appearances and

speaking engagements in the U.S., including St. Louis University Medical

School, Morgan State University, Spelman College and the University of

Cambridge in London.

Erica is dedicated to the advancement of documentary producers through her elected service as President of the Documentary Producers Alliance, an international nonprofit. She recently led the

organization's rebranding efforts and looks forward to furthering their initiatives

toward producer equity and sustainability. She is an active member of the Video

Production Advisory Board at Collin College in Dallas, a member of Brown Girls

Doc Mafia, The Video Consortium and the Global Impact Producers Alliance.

Erica is proud to be of further service to the community as a member of Delta

Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. In 2023, she was a recipient of a full

scholarship to the Looky Looky Pictures Guided Campaign program for Impact

Producers.
